My name is Roger Hillard, an authorized California and Federal OSHA instructor for the past 16 years. When I was first introduced to the Shurfit early heat detection devices, I was overcome with excitement.

Being based in Southern California, I have encountered countless situations in which workers and athletes have experienced heat illness during high-intensity activity. In my professional opinion, this device, when worn properly, will dramatically reduce heat-related illnesses on the job, in sports activities, in gyms, and anywhere that high-heat hazards exist — including MMA gyms during weight cuts and hard sparring.

I developed and managed athletic programs serving more than 30 schools across Southern Nevada. In 2015, I implemented Shurfit to monitor athletes' body temperature during activity.

Coaches identified potential dehydration or heat-related stress in real time, even when athletes might not voluntarily report symptoms. From a risk-management standpoint, this system improved communication with coaching staff and strengthened our ability to protect athletes — the same principles apply directly to MMA athletes in Gym or Training Center environments.

Over the past 4 years, we have supported the Riverside Sheriff's Academy by providing a mouthguard with heat-detection technology for officers undergoing intense physical training.

Our collective data over the past 4 years shows zero liability for heat-related illnesses and heat strokes during training. Our goal is to provide safety to athletes and first responders supported by the safety protocols of Yahushua's Law SB 1248.
